Ink + Wash Sketching

Create a pocket-size pamphlet stitch book and explore sketching with ink and watercolor. These techniques are great for low-pressure sketching, meditative art practice, making gifts, and for sketching whenever, wherever.

Included supplies, mailed to you:

• Stonehenge fine art paper pages for creating two sketchbooks

• St. Armands blue paper for the covers of two sketchbooks

• Additional paper for ink + wash practice

• Waxed thread for bookbinding

• Needle

• Sample card with small quantities of seven Daniel Smith artist-grade watercolors

• Waterbrush

Optional supplies

• Permanent ink pen (like a fine line sharpie) and/or pencil

• Non-permanent ink pen (most office pens)

Artistic Play + Practice

Join other makers, artists, and explorers virtually to relax and play, using supplies you already have on hand. In this workshop, we'll practice artistic play and creative makery focusing on the process -- the experience of making -- over the product.

Bring a current project or experiment with the project of the day. Dig out those old forgotten art materials; raid the kitchen, office or bathroom. Based on the supplies you and your fellow makers have on hand, we’ll engage in artistic activities and playful challenges to jumpstart the fun. You’ll also gain ideas for making artistic play a regular part of your life, building a daily (or weekly) art practice, and being present while creating.

• paper (whatever you have -- printer paper, cardstock, watercolor paper)

• pencils, pens (permanent and water soluble ink), crayons

• watercolor paints or leftover coffee

• brushes or cotton swabs

• shaving cream, food coloring

• paper scraps or old magazines

• scissors, glue

• acrylic paint
